Mass Bullying (Dogpiling) & Direct Message Harassment
Directive Objective
Section titled “Directive Objective”Stop organized group attacks (dogpiling) and enforce safety standards when harassment migrates into private Direct Messages (DMs) to circumvent channel staff.
1. Scope and Policy Coverage
Section titled “1. Scope and Policy Coverage”This directive addresses coordinated or multi-user aggression:
- Dogpiling / Mob Swarming: Multiple community members coordinating to tag, mock, spam reactions, or ridicule a single targeted user simultaneously.
- Off-Platform or DM Harassment: Group members continuing harassment in the victim’s private DMs after public moderators have intervened or muted the main channel.
- Instigating Brigades: Posting a member’s profile or message link into another server with calls to “go attack this person”.
2. Exclusion Boundaries and Scope Limits
Section titled “2. Exclusion Boundaries and Scope Limits”- Generic Commercial Spam: Bot accounts sending unsolicited invite links or crypto scams to random members without personal hostility (handled under Category 6.1: Cybercrime & Phishing).
- Public Group Consensus: Multiple members independently agreeing on a server rule or topical opinion without coordinating personal abuse.
3. Moderator Response & Evidence Handling
Section titled “3. Moderator Response & Evidence Handling”- When DM harassment originates from shared server membership, staff may request uncropped screenshot evidence showing the aggressor’s Discord Tag and User Snowflake ID.
- Apply collective sanctions to ringleaders organizing dogpiling attacks.
- Advise victims to adjust User Settings > Privacy & Safety > Server Privacy Defaults to restrict DMs from server members.
