Promotion, Instruction & Glorification of Self-Harm
Directive Objective
Section titled “Directive Objective”Eliminate communities, channels, and content that instruct, encourage, or glorify non-suicidal self-injury, dangerous viral challenges, or severe eating disorders.
1. Scope and Policy Coverage
Section titled “1. Scope and Policy Coverage”This directive strictly prohibits:
- Self-Harm Instruction & How-To Guides: Sharing methods, techniques, or instructions on how to cut, burn, overdose, or physically injure oneself.
- Photos of Fresh Self-Harm Wounds: Uploading photographs displaying fresh cuts, burns, or physical injuries.
- Viral Self-Destructive Games: Organizing or participating in viral suicide or self-harm games (e.g., Blue Whale, salt-and-ice challenges).
- Severe Eating Disorder Advocacy (Pro-Ana / Pro-Mia): Communities or channels actively encouraging dangerous caloric starvation, purging, or self-harm related to eating disorders.
2. Exclusion Boundaries and Scope Limits
Section titled “2. Exclusion Boundaries and Scope Limits”- Venting & Recovery Conversations: Members openly discussing recovery, seeking support, or mentioning past struggles without sharing instructions, tips, or graphic imagery.
- Benign Medical Information: Standard medical discussions regarding wound care or clinical treatment.
3. Moderator Response Protocol
Section titled “3. Moderator Response Protocol”- Immediate Deletion: Remove all instructive content or wound images without delay.
- Account Disciplinary Action: Permanent ban for users deliberately encouraging others to self-harm or distributing guides.
- Helpline Referral: Provide crisis resources to members who post wound imagery as an emotional plea for help.
