Last updated: Apr 24, 2026View as Markdown

Prevent the financial, labor, or privacy exploitation of minors by server operators, community members, or commercial entities operating on Discord.

This directive regulates activities involving underage users:

  • Predatory Monetization Schemes: Coercing minors to run server fundraisers, sell digital services, or solicit donations under false pretenses or exploitative revenue-sharing conditions.
  • Digital Forced Labor: Subjecting minors to unpaid, abusive, or high-pressure moderation/administrative shifts with threats of social ostracization or doxxing.
  • Invasive Exposure of Personal Life: Third parties filming, publishing, or exposing personal living conditions, medical struggles, or family difficulties of minors to generate community pity, traffic, or monetary donations without legal guardian consent.

  • Contractual Minimum Age: Standard rules regarding the legal ability of teenagers to agree to terms or purchase Nitro independently are covered under ToS Category 2 (Eligibility & Age Consent, Page 2.1.1).
  • Legitimate Freelance Creative Work: Voluntary commissions (e.g., custom Discord icons, server banner art) created by teenagers within standard parental oversight boundaries.

  • Investigate reports where older members or administrators leverage authority over younger users for economic gain.
  • Disband predatory fundraising arrangements and remove exploitative commercial listings.
  • Escalate severe labor or financial abuse cases involving minors to Discord Trust & Safety.
