An uncoordinated moderation team is uniquely susceptible to manipulation by bad actors through “staff shopping” (where a sanctioned user polls different staff members until they find the most lenient response).

When concluding your active moderation window, leave a concise brief in #staff-chat or your team’s designated handover channel:

1. **Recent Sanctions & Incidents**: Summarize members who received warnings, mutes, or timeouts during your shift. 2. **Volatile Topics**: Highlight ongoing sensitive conversations or arguments that may reignite. 3. **Pending Escalations**: Note any open tickets or cases awaiting administrator or supervisor review.

  • Sacred Rule: Never contradict, argue with, or reverse another moderator’s decision in public channels in front of community members.
  • If you believe a colleague made an erroneous or disproportionate moderation call, discuss it privately in the staff room or consult an operations supervisor to align on a unified resolution.
